Amy, You are setting the bar extremely high for communication during a mission trip. This is great! There are so many more people able to share in your experiences and in you glorifying our Lord by you doing this!
The bows in the archery picture are called daikyu. A shorter version is called a hankyu. Traditionally, the explanation for their asymmetrical shape has been to allow them to be used from horseback, although it may well have also been to allow shooting from cover or from a kneeling position. The design is ancient - possibly as much as 10,000 years old. It's very impressive that you were able to see them in action!
Your photos and narrative are great! Visited Jerry and Pat this afternoon. I just printed your blog, so they can read it, too! (no internet at their house.) Stay safe! pop
Dear Amy, We just found you - cool pictures and descriptions! Can't wait to see and hear more of your time on campus. We'll have to talk about that missed birthday when you get back!! Love, The Lark nest
